Committee Meeting Friday 19th Feb 2010
CCMC COMMITTEE MEETING – FRIDAY 19TH FEB
ATTENDEES – PETER LONG, JOHN WALKER, JOHN CREES, JOHN GOSLING, RON HOOPER , GAVIN EDWARDS, MICHAELA EDWARDS
Michaela Edwards chaired meeting –
• 1/4ly committee meetings were agreed – Dates to be confirmed
• Annual trophy kindly donated by member for member of the year, agreed that the committee would refer to him as to how the trophy/shield is to be awarded, i.e. criteria that members have to adhere to be able to obtain the trophy/shield. I.e. club promotion, club support; committee agreed it would have to be awarded to the indivual rather than best restoration etc.
• New club gazebo, committee agreed that as the gazebo is only used a few times a year, pointless spending lots of money on one, agreed that the club could spend up to a £100 on a new pop up gazebo – Gavin to sort out.
• Committee agreed that emails could be sent to members for renewal of their subscriptions, also agreed that membership renewals would be sent at the beginning of the month to stop members being reminded, who have already paid.
• Committee also agreed that all membership payments and renewals go straight to John Gosling (treasurer) rather than secretary.
• John Walker has already made inroads into arranging club show, of which will take place on the 5th September, John has kindly agreed to distribute a flyer to other clubs he is either involved in or has contacts with. Peter Long has already drafted a flyer for the show.
• Little Havens Hospice intend to run a show, of which Peter is still awaiting details of.
• Peter is in the process of arranging a talk/visit to a powder coating specialist, will confirm dates etc.
• Peter is also happy to continue to provide a list of dates for shows, although they are now already posted on the website.
• Committee discussed a back drop for the club stand, although the member that offered to help, has not attended club recently, agreed that when he attends, a committee member would speak to him.
• Peter has undertaken the job of producing signs for bikes for display/show purposes, anyone else requires one, needs to either see Peter or the form can be printed off the website.
• AOB
• The club has purchased some raffle tickets for the Helena Hospice for their fund rising.
• Committee agreed to sponsor a trophy for John Walkers show on 18th April, of which John Walker will sort out and arrange to get engraved.
• Club road runs were discussed at length, the committee finally agreed that the club would use the mirror system when out. IE this would mean that each bike is responsible for using their mirrors to make sure that the bike behind them is still in sight, if not then the bike must stop. Committee also agreed that members must stagger their riding and not be too close to the bike in front.
• John Crees has kindly made some signs for our club show and Gavin will arrange to provide the tape required also for the show.
• Ron has spent a lot of time working on the website, this is now available and members should be using it more.
• Committee agreed that some more evening runs on club nights would useful, although rather than Peter organising, then perhaps some members can sort out two or three for the start of the season.
• NERT has invited CCMC members to attend their club night on Wed 14th July at Cressing for a BBQ and a chat. Leave the Live and Let Live at 7.15; arrive at Willows for around 8.00.
• John Crees mentioned that he had heard several members not happy about our winter meetings and that it was suggested that the club arrange for talks/slide shows etc, or invite other clubs to our night or alternatively visit other clubs? In order to keep interest in the club during winter months. Committee will take this on board and action where possible.
• Committee also suggested that a run to the ACE Cafe would be a good idea.
